I eaten this food for several years and love it.Its package in two cans even though it may look like one.Preparation is quick and simple.Warm up your beef stove top or nuke it micowave,the larger can holds veggies just rince with tap water and drain mix it with beef serve over chow mein noodles or white rice.You will need can open these are not pull tops.
We have bought this many times over the years. I also like to keep a couple of cans on the shelf in case of emergencies such as the electricity going out during a storm at dinner time. It is good with or without rice. I like to put a little soy sauce on mine after it is served at the table.
My elderly Mother can't afford to eat out on her income. She loves Chinese food, but never gets it so I order it from Walmart and have it shipped to her every now and then and she loves it! She is always asking for me to send her more! She loves the taste of it.... : ) Ordering & shipping groceries thru Walmart is surprisingly reasonable!!
I've been purchasing La Choy Chow Mein for 40+ years. I prefer the shrimp but the beef seems to be most popular. It makes a great meal for 2 to 4 people, depending on how you serve it. I make two huge servings (feeds myself and husband) by placing it over the crunchy noodles or over rice. We love the crunchy Chow Mein noodles but if we are out, we use rice instead. It's a heat and serve item. There are two cans wrapped together. The small can on top is the liquid gravy that you open first, pour in pan and heat. Then drain the contents of the bottom can which contain the veg/meat and mix in the gravy until all is hot. Eat alone or best to serve over noodles or rice. Mouth Watering Delicious!
I used to buy this years ago because it was a great meal at a very reasonable price. The price is still fairly reasonable but the quality seems to have really gone down hill. First of all the Chinese Vegetables need to be renamed Bean Sprouts because it's like 99% bean sprouts with a couple of tiny pieces of baby corn cobs. Seriously there isn't even 1 whole baby corn cob in the whole can, there are like 2 or 3 pieces. Likewise there's a couple of short bamboo shoots and a couple of small water chestnuts, and the rest is bean sprouts. I don't know why they cheap out on bamboo shoots and water chestnuts, they pretty cheap to buy on their own. Secondly the beef is pretty sparse, There are like 10 or 12 tiny pieces of what is supposed to be beef. I have to say I've seen more appetizing beef in dog food. It tasted OK, it was really chewy. I tried not think about it. I will not be buying this product again. I had to actually add real vegetables to it and more meat. It's not a good value if you had to doctor it up to make it edible.
I HAVE TRIED BOTH THE CHICKEN AND BEEF CHOW MEIN AND I LIKE THE BEEF BETTER. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM WITH BOTH IS THE VEGETABLE PART OF THE PACKAGE. I CLEANSED THE VEGETABLES IN WATER OVER AND OVER AGAIN, BUT IT REMAINED WITH A REPULSIVE TASTE. THE TASTE SCARED ME BECAUSE I FEARED I WAS BEING POISENED. MIXING THE INGREDIENTS TOGETHER HELPED A LITTLE, MAKING THE MEAL TOLERABLE . UNFORTUNATELY, I PURCHASED SEVERAL CANS AT ONCE, BUT I WILL EAT THEM. HOWEVER, I WILL NOT BE BUYING THIS PRODUCT AGAIN. I AM SO GLAD THAT THIS PRODUCT HAS NOT KILLED ME AND AS A RESULT IT IS THE BASIS FOR THE 2 STAR RATING.
only recieved half of the product, this is a VERY BAD JOKE. NOT EVEN FUNNY, WAL MART. Please send the rest of the product.
I was VERY unhappy that a substitution was made on my order over an hour after it had been placed, accepted and verified. When I tried to delete the substitution I was told that it was too late. My order did not arrive until nearly 1.5 hours after I tried to delete it. LAME!
Seems that the Pickers did their absolute best to find the dented cans that would never sell off the shelf . Package box arrived in like new shape , packing material was in place in box. 4 out of 4 cans were damaged . No One would ever select these cans off of a store shelf . I will find out if the seal was damaged and food rotted when I open them.
I used to eat this when I was younger and it was delicious. It's not anymore. It doesn't taste anything like it used to, it tastes like how dog food smells. Yuck!
